Radiation- induced colitis
Radiation induced colitis Endoscopy of the rectum reveals hemorrhagic and erythematous lesions with obliterated vessels. Furthermore mucosal atrophy is obvious and haustration absent. Rectum and lower sigma are affected. The patient was irradiated (afterloading) 10 years ago for cervical carcinoma. Main clinical symptom is a watery and bloody diarrhea.
