Ventricular ulcer at the angular fold
Ventricular ulcer at the angular fold Ulcer base
Epithelial lesions extending through the muscularis mucosae into the submucosa, are defined as ulcers. The left picture shows an ulcer with a deep key- shaped mucosal lesion surrounded by a smooth mound and localized at the angular fold. The ulcer base is clearly beneath the mucosal surface. Magnification (right picture) of the ulcer base reveals fibrin coverage, a whitish, yellowish and greenish colour representing hematin and fibrin in the upper sections.
