This gastric mucosa, at the first glance pretty normal, histologically harbours a multifocal carcinoma. Endoscopy was performed because of a familial history positive for gastric carcinoma. The lesion in the middle of the photo is caused by a former biopsy. A reduced gastric motility was the only endoscopic sign of malignancy. This cases advocates routine biopsy even of minor changes of the gastric mucosa. |
