Sclerotherapy of bleeding esophageal varices is a very common treatment to achieve hemostasis. Injection of polidocanol (shown here) or polymerized HistoacrylŽ (in case of prominent cardial varices) obliterates the varix and prevents recurrent hemorrhage in a high percentage of cases. |
